Applying orthodontic wax to your brackets where they rub can stop irritation. Just pinch off a small piece and cover the sharp spots. Eating soft foods like yogurt and mashed potatoes during sore times takes the pressure off your teeth, making chewing less painful.

Cold treats, such as ice water or frozen fruit, might numb the area and reduce swelling. Just be gentle with hot or hard foods that can make pain worse or harm your braces.

If pain goes beyond the first week or gets intense, it’s smart to check in with your orthodontist. Sometimes, there can be other issues like loose wires or brackets that need fixing.
